Exploring how what, when, and how we eat and sleep shape our health.
CRONUS – Chronobiology, Nutrition and Health Research Group is based at the School of Nutrition (FANUT), Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL), Brazil, and is officially registered with the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). The name CRONUS derives from the Portuguese words CROnobiologia, NUtrição e Saúde (Chronobiology, Nutrition and Health).
Our research focuses on the interplay between sleep, nutrition, biological rhythms, and health. We investigate not only what and how we eat and sleep, but also when, with particular interest in how the timing, quality, and regularity of these behaviors are associated with health and well-being.
At the core of our research is the SONAR-Brazil Survey, a large-scale nationwide research initiative investigating sleep, eating behaviors, biological rhythms, and health among Brazilian adults. CRONUS also develops international research collaborations and is committed to translating scientific evidence into knowledge that can reach and benefit society.
The SONAR-Brazil Survey is our flagship research initiative, investigating sleep, eating behaviors, biological rhythms, and health among Brazilian adults.
We use scientific evidence to promote healthier lifestyles, with a focus on sleep, nutrition, biological rhythms, and the prevention of chronic diseases.
We translate scientific evidence into clear and accessible content, bringing knowledge beyond academia and closer to people.
